I use an old pickle jar and fill it with water and put in a couple of drops of bleach. I then add flowers and seal it up. The flower last for months!
I also do this with silk flowers too. It is so easy! I have been doing this for years, without any problems at all. But I don’t know if you could do this with fresh cut flowers, as they would need to be refrigerated quickly after cutting, otherwise they might go bad before drying out enough to be preserved in the jar.
The easiest way that works for me is to take a clean jar (glass) large enough for your flower arrangement, place your arrangement in it, fill the jar with straight vodka (or rubbing alcohol), secure lid tightly, label and date it, then place in a dark area away from heat/sunlight until completely dry – usually takes about 2-3 weeks – longer if you live in humid area or where air circulation isn’t good.
